John D. Tulenko has been part of Learning Matters since its inception in 1995. Since then, he has produced much of the company’s back catalog of documentary features and reports. He currently produces and serves as correspondent for the education stories aired on the PBS NewsHour.
In addition to multiple awards from the Education Writers Association, John has received two Emmy nominations for his work on two television reports for PBS NewsHour: Disappearing Dropouts (2005) and Turnaround Specialist (2007). Additionally, he received the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award in 2000 for the documentary School Sleuth.
Most recently, he’s reported on efforts to help low-income college students make it to graduation, the small high schools movement in New York City, and technology’s potential to change learning, among many other subjects.
