“The Federal Government historically hasn’t had a role in public education. Keep in mind that the word “education” is not mentioned in the federal Constitution, although it is in many state constitutions.” Professor Zimmerman takes us through the history of the Department of Education to show how its role has increased since its creation in 1979, and why it isn’t likely to decrease anytime soon.
