Horton’s Kids is an organization dedicated to educating and empowering students (and their families) in Ward 8 of Washington, D.C. For their efforts, they were the winner of The Washington Post’s 2011 Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management.

In late 2011, Learning Matters web producer Ted Bauer talked with three members of the Horton’s Kids team — Executive Director Brenda Chamberlain, Development Director Lisa Peri, and Program Director Kristen Woodiwiss — about the organization’s focus and plans for the upcoming year.
