Summer is usually a time for millions of kids to take a break from school and have fun, but that time off can result in unintended consequences. ‘Forgetting’ is a huge problem and it’s particularly acute among disadvantaged kids, who may end up going back to school even further behind their better-off peers.
Ron Fairchild is the Director of the National Center for Summer Learning, an organization focused on creating awareness and promoting policy change for summer learning opportunities. He shares why summertime can be a risk for many low-income children across the country.
